New Student Railcard

Having trouble finding a Student Railcard?

The railcard for students has been re-launched.

Are you having trouble trying to find information about a student railcard? This maybe because the railcard for young people in full time education has been re-named.

The student or young persons railcard are former names for what is called the 16-25 Railcard. As you may remember, with a student railcard you could save on train ticket prices and receive promotional prices on days out, restaurants, etc.

Fear not, the great savings and fantastic benefits of a student railcard are still available to you even with a different name.

A student railcard offers card holders the chance to save on average over £100 a year on rail fares. Using your railcard when buying train tickets will give you 1/3 off the price. That’s quite a saving. You can also receive holder benefits of savings and discounts on days out and restaurants, all with your student railcard.

A great way to save money on expensive train tickets is to use a student railcard. To qualify for one, you need to be in full time education, and between the ages of 16-25. If you are in full time education over the age of 25, you can still buy a student railcard you just need to have your college or university office stamp your student railcard application form.

The Student Railcard can be used for weekday travel, including peak travel times*, weekends and even public holidays for all journey lengths.
(* a minimum ticket price applies)

A student railcard is valid for 1 or 3 years, the choice is yours. Buying a 3 year student railcard is better value if you need one for this length of time. You may want to try using a student railcard promotional code when buying your student railcard online.

As if the 1/3 saving on train tickets wasn’t reason enough to own a railcard, the fantastic discounts and offers from railcard partner companies like CD-wow, Sta Travel and Fitness First might just tempt you.

Whilst it maybe commonly known by students as a student railcard, you actually should be looking for a 16-25 railcard.
